I put a new string on my bow recently. It was shooting good at a 6.75 inch brace. Would the string stretch down to 6.25? That is what it is at now.

Depending on the material, and if the string wasn't pre-stretched, that's not unusual.  However, if it is a FF material and you lose much more than that in brace height....I'd be checking to see if it was made properly, and/or doesn't have way too many twists in it.

It is a fast flight 12 strand string. To get back to around 6.75 would I twist the string to the left? And when they say to put a twist in the string is it suppose to be a full 360 degree twist?

YES!

You will have to make several twists in your string to take up 1/2" of BH. As far as which way to twist, it would depend on which way the string was twisted when built. Just look at the string and twist in the direction that is tighter to increase BH.

For the direction just watch as you twist to,see, which direction makes it a tighter twist.  As for as,360 or 180 degrees. Doesn't matter as long,as your consistant so you'll be able to hit the brace height desired after,a,couple of attempts.

If you continue to loose brace height the twist might be slipping.

I wouldn't say it's common, but it's acceptable. As long as you don't lose too much more brace height after twisting it I wouldn't be too concerned with it. My guess is that it wasn't pre-stretched so some of what you are seeing is the loops and twists settling in especially if they are padded.

As stated, depending on the material and how the string was made a 1/2" of stretch is not uncommon.

If it's a 12 strand 450+ and you are getting that much, the string wasn't pre-stretched and/or something else is wrong.

If it's a string I made, contact me via pm or phone or e-mail and I'll make things right.
