This is my dads bow that he bought when he was 15 or 16. No brand on it just the words "Black Hunter"

Serial number is I2358B

It is one of the smoothest 58" bows I have ever shot and has an immaculate grip and heavy riser. Unfortunately it does have some damage after being hunted hard, and I don't want to risk it d-laminating. Purchased from a catalog around 1973 or so.

Anyone know what it is? I would love to try and find another one.

Thanks.

Jon

I'm not familiar with the model name but it has the Browning look.

Here's a link with a guy shooting what appears to be the same bow. He says Bear but that bow doesn't have the Bear look. Possibly a store brand like Sears, Montgomery Ward, etc?? I'm sure somebody has seen one on here. It's good looking bow - like the gray looking glass. I'd shoot it!

Robinhood Archery. Had one just like it. Ibelieve they were made by Ben Pearson and maybe American Archery for Robinhood. Pretty nice recurve.

Cool thanks for the input.

Cool link DawgDoc. Definitely the same bow. I agree it doesn't look like a bear, and my dad can't for the life of him remember who he bought it from.

Anyone else have any opinions?

Thanks.

It looks like a Hoyt Prohunter to me. Maybe made for Robin Hood archery.

Robin Hood archery for sure. I sold a bunch of them years ago.

What kind of damage does it have?  Looks great in the pics and looks like a shooter!

Cool. Looks like the general consensus is robin hood archery. Anybody know when the company went out of business?

The bow is still a shooter, but a few months ago it was dropped on a door top after being knocked of the rack when my dad was getting a kayak down. It put a small dent in the belly side of one limb and a small 1.5" long crack developed about a quarter inch from the edge of the glass on the belly with the dent smack in the middle. Hasn't lifted yet, but it feels like it may soon. My dad said hes probably gonna take it to one last 3d shoot and maybe hunting this fall and then retire it. It sure is a beautiful bow and like I said it is the smoothest drawing 58" bow I've ever shot and my draw is about 29.5"!

Squirt some Loctite 420 into the crack and dent.  It may keep the damage from getting any worse.

Yep. I'd superglue it too before drawing it to 29.

Post a pic of the damage if you can.
Nice looking wood in that bow.
