I picked up a Custom Bighorn from a buddy of mine.  He was the original owner who bought it in '88. I LOVE the grip on it.  Its unbelievably quiet and I'm grouping them nice at 15 yrds.  Its about 60# @ 26", I shoot about 28.

Any opinions on these bows??  I thin this one's a keeper!!

Other then they shoot. I have a take down with two sets of limbs. Killed my first trad deer 20 years ago with it.

I had one and it was a great shooting bow, its my one regret of the bows I've sold and traded. It wasn't a speed demon but hit where you looked and was dead quiet doing it. Congrats on picking up a GREAT bow!

I have one I bought new back in the 80's , same as every one else,  its a great bow that hits where it looks and is bomb proof I have a asbell grip on a widow recurve and its pretty close and really works for me

I had two Bighorns built for me back in the early 80's.  One which helped me take my first Mule Deer.  Great bows, very dependable and easy to shoot.  Not the fastest ,but, pretty quiet and shot heavy arrows very well.  One helped me win State Unaided Recurve Championship in '81.  Hope you can get that one....you'll be glad you did!  Horserod

My first "real" trad bow was a Custom Bighorn takedown.  It was the bow that got me convinced to forgrt the wheels.  This was back in the 80's.  Sold it to fund a bow I thought I just had to have.   Tracked it down last year and bought it back.  Never leaving again just for the sentimental value.  But it shoots just as good today as then.

My first custom bow was a Bighorn takedown that I purchased in 82 or 83.It is still going strong. I love the look of this bow with the curved limb beds. Still one of my all time favorite grips. I wish someone would buy the forms and start making them again.

A Bighorn was also my 1st "Custom made" bow. I really did not know what draw or lb. to order. I told Fred what I wanted(way to heavy & long). Fred asked me to have my Dad call him,since I was just a kid, but my Dad was not an archer. It is still my heaviest lb. bow! And the one I will always keep. Not the fastest but sooo smooth shooter. Later they made me a lighter set of limbs so I can shoot it often.

Great bows . Can't  go wrong with one of  those bows. I have had two and still would but my kid took one with him when he went to Ohio for his new job.

Quietest recurve I have or will ever own

Great bows, my buddy bought one new in the early 90's. I think it's pretty tough to find one in a lower weight, those were the days when men were men and men shot 60+ pounds. One under 50lbs would be a real rarity.

I bought a bighorn from Fred late 79 or maybe 1980, the thing that set this bow apart from the others at the time was the grip, it shot almost off your hand, easy bow to shoot, mine was 70lbs at 28 it seemed to be the norm back then

I had several of them and agree with the others, they are one of the best, most shootable recurves ever..

Bighorn one piece, 64", 50# @ 27". Super quiet, extremely accurate. The grip does place your hand right up next to the shelf. Fred's bows are possibly the best hunting recurve ever made.

Lucky.....one of the bows I MUST HAVE is an Asbell era Bighorn.    

Mike, no, I haven't. I almost bought one from cabelas back in the mid 90's, when the sold them. I bought a Bear TD hunter instead.
