I ordered a you finish hickory self bow a couple weeks ago from crowshead archery and was wondering if I could use animal grease to seal the wood.I have a bunch of Thompson Center naturalube which I believe is some type of lard product.Or I could use some deer fat if any of these will work. Thanks for any help.

Sure. I've used bacon grease. It works really well but needs a touch up now and then. Jawge

My coonhound constantly is trying to chew on my sinew backed bows. I can't imagine her reaction to bacon grease. Fetch!

I've used melted paraffin and I like it especially on whitewoods.
