Been using ferrultite to glue inserts into my alluminum arrows but ran out, so I went to dicks sporting goods today to grab some ferrultite but all they had was Super Grip Hot Melt. I grabbed it because it was only a couple dollars. But is this type of glue as good as ferrultite for glueing inserts, and or broadheads onto adapters? I can always order some more ferrultite but is this stuff legit?

I quit using Ferrel-lite years ago,I find it too brittle and doesn't hold as well in cold weather.I use a white colored hot melt stick,no name but bought at 3Rivers.It is stronger and feels more pliable.I haven't used that brand of hot melt but should work fine for you.

I've sunk my share of field points in tree trunks and have had good success with the generic sticks I get from a local retailer. Give your new purchase a try and give us a field report in a month or so. Trad guys just love a fact based analysis.

I don't know about inserts, but for glue on points, it really works. The range where I shoot uses the carpet like backstops that always steal the points off of wood arrows. I switched over to the cheap hot melt glue and they hold much better. I rarely lose points now. The only downside is that it smells worse.

I use nothing but low temp hot melt glue from big jims in my carbons it works better then anything I have used yet including epoxy. I will not use anything else.      Widow

Personally, I like Ferr-L-tite. Never had a problem with it.

The cheap sticks tend to be more pliable which I don't like. I've also had some come loose on hot days. I prefer the Bohning product which is more rigid.

The secret to points staying on is soaking in a degreasing medium- everything metal has at least residual grease oil or other material left from the mfg process so you've got to get that out

Been using Apple Archery's low temp hot melt sticks for years on wood, carbon and aluminum,including inserts without a loss of a single insert or point.  Went to it for all the reasons noted above with Ferr-L-tite .
