I hold my recurve and help my daughter draw the bow about 6" and "she" shoots the target.  
Well we were just doing this and she informed me that she wanted a real bow like mine, not one like her current plastic bow with suction cup arrows.

Now I need suggestions on a bow for a 5 year old little girl.

An older Bear Little Bear can't be beat. Taught 5 grandchildren to shoot with one. Find them on the big auction site.

Mike Mecready makes some great bows for kids too and probably easier to find.

I got my little man a pilgrim squirt from 3 rivers.Nicer bow than it appears on there site.fake antler tips curly limbs really nice for a kids bow.he can shoot and hit a deer target in the vitals at 10 yrds.thats with my old broken arrows prob be really good with some kid arrows but had broken ones laying around way over spine for him.will probally buy the bigger pilgrim maybe this year for him.

There are quite a few of them out there in the range of $50 - $150.  Check out the 3 Rivers website. I picked up a 15# Ragim for my grandchildren, which is a little heavy for a 5 year old, but no doubt easier for them to pull than your bow.  15# is about right for 7 - 10 year olds.

I've got a 9# black rhino that Duckbutt graciously donated to my kids. My almost 3 yr old can shoot it by herself, though the form is a bit lacking :-)

Check out Mad Dog bows. He has some awesome little recurves and longbows. My buddy's kids have then and they are the real deal.

I second a rhino bow.

Black Rhino ...bought one for my son when he turned 4.  He's had it for a year and a half and its been an amazing little bow!!!!

Try a little bow from. st joe river bows they make great little bows for a decent price.

Just made 2 of my Gkids 17# American Elm bows, 1-48", and 1-36". One is 7 yo, the other 6 yo. Bought the 3 yo a fiberglass 1st Shot from Kustom King. Son says they can pull the weight! Also made his from the same piece of wood. The little bows were hard to make, took 3 tries!

I've got 2 black rhinos and 2 maddog bows for my kids, and they are all good bows.  For the really young ones the little M-35 from black rhino is hard to beat, and is pretty easy on the wallet.  As my kids grew out of that one I bought one from Mike at Maddog and it is an awesome little bow.  I've also got one of the kid bows from Vermonster that Mike made and it also is fantastic.

X2 the Nite Lite has a lot of options for length.  My youngest gets compliments on his all the time.  My oldest shoots a Sarrels Lil Newt which is good looking, durable, and quick.

You can't go wrong with a Maddog pup. My 3 1/2 year old can shoot his 10# with no problems. His attention span will only last about 20 shots anyway. Good luck.

We just bought our little one a samick take-down recurve.  Limbs can be swapped out for heavier poundage as she progresses.  We went to the shop to try a few out.  Fortunately we did, as it turns out she is actually "the other eye" dominant.  The impetus was actually to get a bow that could shoot nicer arrows.  I wasn't too impressed with the fat fiberglass arrows that seem to be everywhere.  It was disappointing for the both of us to have the arrow hit the target, only to bounce off!

I never realized how many different manufacturers there were for great looking kids bows.

Anyone have one of the previously mentioned bows that their kids have out grown that they would part with?  Shoot me a PM.

St. Joe River Bows!  Can't say enough good things about David and Tracey.  My daughter loves her SJR and soon we'll be getting another for our son.

Have purchased two St. Joe River youth bows and will purchase more when the time comes. They look just like mine, only smaller. A bargain for $150.
