I am currently working on a Dryad bow blank that I have had since December. Thank you Mike for getting that extra DVD to me so quickly. I am currently in the middle of tillering the bow. Because I am using a tillering gizmo, but I am a little unsure of how to judge the area around the fades. Any input would be appreciated.

It is currently pulling 34 pounds at 14 inches.

Thanks!!!

Shawn

left limb looks a little stiff close to the limb tip...

I would agree with above, and be sure to not take any more wood off near the handle before you get those mid-to- outer limbs moving some more. Especially the last 6-8" before the nocks. Good job so far! keep us updated.

Lost Arra

Is this a straight blank or reflex-deflex?

wingnut

This is a R/D blank and the last 8" of the limb are static.  So with that said lets see another inch or so.  Looks real good so far.

I can't tell for sure with the pic but take a good look at the area around the node midlimb on both limbs.  They both look a bit stiff, I think.

The tillering gizmo is not leaving any marks on the limb. I have taken another photo for your review. Please let me know what you think.

Pulled to 21" mark on my tillering tree.

Bow unbraced.

Thank You!!!

looking better....keep up the good work

I'll bet that your tillering gizmo is saying it's good to go and that all you doo now is full length strokes until the weight is where you want it...and the weight is probably pretty close by now.
Looks great.

Looks good... Dang... I knew I shouldn't had looked at this, cuz... of course... that lil voice is saying, "see it's easy, a support group waiting to help... you can do it....

Maybe I should do a bow for my son first...
Expect the best. Prepare for the worst. Capitalize on what comes.

Slasher, the dvd that comes with the blank helps a lot. Of course, it is nice having an extended family (aka TradGang) that is always willing to give advice and encouragement. Just in case you did not see Mikes post, Dryad is having a sale right now on their osage bow blanks. If I had the extra funds in the budget, I would order another one right now. The bow now needs a finish. I am not sure what type of finish I will be using. The final numbers are #47 @ 28". I was hoping for #50, but #47 will work just fine for those Nebraska whitetails. I will attach pictures when the bow is completed. I am very pleased with the results.

kool glad to hear that Shawn, can't wait to see the pic's.

Shawn,

47# is a great result.  Heck at 3#s that isn't even a missed weight.  LOL

Make sure you post the finished pics.
