I love Hill Style bows. A beautiful wooden crescent  arcing simply and powerfully. But I don't shoot them well. I've been trying exclusively for much of my shooting career and I am certain that in the future I will continue to master the american longbow.

Sadly, I just parted with my lovely Schulz longbow. I'm not worried, David Mitchell will love her well. I am also certain I will get one again.

I picked up a new hoyt excel ilf riser and blackmax carbon limbs in replacement. It's only beauty comes in accurate shooting, and that it does in spades! In some ways I hate that this is the style of bow that I shoot best, but I am coming to terms with that. It's just the way God put me together I suppose. But when i shoot this cold hearted modern souless bow the arrow hits where it's supposed to.

I'll take the right bow over the wishful bow for now. Time to

I'm kinda like that I really want to shoot my longbow well and do ok with it but I can just drill with my PSA widow. But it stays on the rack alot. In the fall I go through thinking I should be shooting what I am more accurate with since I'm shooting critters and hunt with the 'curve most of the time ..

Definitely.  You can shoot paper with any bow but when it comes to hunting we owe it to the hunted to pursue him or her with the bow we shoot the best.

Seems that sometimes folks are so intent on shooting a certain style of bow, that accuracy is sometimes sacrificed, just for the sake of shooting that certain style of bow.
Be it recurve, longbow, hybrid, ETC.,shoot the style that you shoot best, we owe it to the game we hunt, for clean kills are the name of the game.
No matter what style you shoot best, it's all good, cause its all trad.!  

I had gotten rid of similar bows in the recent past in favor of the longbow, knowing I shoot thes adapted target bows well. In some ways I'm dissapointed, but I know it's the right choice.

 I have the same exact hoyt\\limb setup, I look at that bow and say, "jezzzz what an ugly bow!" Then I go back to stacking arrows on top of one another with it!!!!

Confidence in your hunting equipment is huge. I am in the same boat, much better with recurves than longbows.

You have to go with what works for you.

I can relate. I have owned quite a number of customs and the only one that shoots even nearly as well as my Hoyt Gamemaster is my Habu.

I always seem to end up in the woods with one of my classic Bears..despite owning some of the highest end bows out there..Makes me wonder why I ever bothered with the high end bows

There are so many grip, riser and limb variations out there, probably because different combinations work better for all our different body and hand sizes and styles.  The search for that magic bow is half the joy of trad archery for me.  I have a couple I shoot really well, and love the opportunity to try a different style.

I know how you feel. I have a few beautiful trad bows. But I still shoot my vintage barebow compound better than any of them. The next most accurate (and second ugliest) bow is my ILF longbow. But thats where all the fun and challenge are. Learning to be good with simple traditional bows is more rewarding for me.

Buy, sell, trade... Buy, sell, trade... It's all good fun! Took me years to learn that I shoot a hybred longbow best!

I shoot the american semi-longbow for a multitude of reasons, and I shoot it well. I cannot shoot recurves if my life depended on it though.  BUT I really want to try an ILF with longbow limbs and a low grip just to see how they feel. I have heard great things about them.  

Shoot what you shoot best, make your own nostalgia.
