Sometimes you just plain get lucky.

Bud B.

I have an old Bingham u-finish kit longbow from the late 70s. I was shooting it yesterday and noticed the string looked a little worn, so a backup was in order.

I broke out the flemish board and looped some B55. After twisting and serving the new string I pre-stretched it by rubbing it briskly with a piece of leather and some wax.

I strung it up to fistmele and eyeballed the spot for the new tied on string nock point. Then to the target bale. Getting the string so close at the start is always good.

First six arrows at 15.

Second six arrows at 15

64@28 slight string follow. Surewood 60-65 Douglas Fir shafts.

I ain't the greatst shot by any means but this boosts the confidence just a little. I have not shot this bow in a while and the draw weight is a little stiff for me after shooting a 50#ish Hill style for a loooong time. It just may get some more string time if nothing but for me to get a good workout.

Looking forward to the Sept deer opener  :)  Maybe today's luck with the new string will follow me.

Hmm wonder if that high arrow in pic 2 is the same high one from the first six you shot?

anyway its cool when you grab a forgotten bow from the past and it lights the target right up!

No. That's my struggles with a clean release. My nemises.

If I made another string for it I doubt all things would line up the way this string did. Makes me want to make another one for it to see if I can duplicate the success with string making.

Thanks guys.

Hey Ted. I marked the arrows. If I get time to shoot tomorrow I'll check to see if the same arrow flies high.

Hey Bud, yeah mark them if they will have broad heads you'll have a few that just always seem to always get in a little tighter to the bull than the others with B-heads.
