My estimation is that an ICS500 Bowhunter at 30"s w/200 gn point will be close based on the information provided.

Shot the .500 31" long with 200 gr. point standard insert and arrow flies straight out to 20 yards.  I will fletch a couple up at this length and try a paper tune.  Then add my big snuffers, then sit and twiddle my thumbs some more waiting for September.  Thanks for the input guys.

my experience is that in carbon, about 100gr - 150 gr of point weight accounts for the change from .500 to .400

however, i shoot 30" .500s (3555s) with only 120 up front, from a cut 1/8 before centre longbow.

I would start with the .400s, leave them an inch or two longer than you had previosly.

I wouldnt be surprised if your current setup is a tad "weak" spined for your bow. my arrows are 15lbs "weak" according to Stu's calculator and they paper tune into bullet holes

cheers.

30-31"lenght 340 shaft with a heavy point.
with a 125gn point I would try a 30-31" 400 shaft
Play around with the lenght a bit and you should get it working well.

I shoot 200 grain heads w/ approx 20grain inserts & my 500's are a little too weak for my 56 and 54 recurves that I pull about 29" -- so about 57 and 59. My guess is 500's would be perfect for your set up.

Yep.  The 500's work well.
Realized that I've been over spines most of the time.

400's will be stiff unless you add a lot of point weight. 29.5" .500 spine will be fine and just play with point weight. I am sure you will end up with a minimum of 175 grains to a max of near 250 grains depending on the bow. Really hard to tell though without what bow it is. I mean a straight limb Hill style bow, you may need 275 grains or more. More on the bow is really needed! Shawn
