Pat B.

I went out yesterday evening about 30 minutes before dark..  A few pigs were going into a maize field wrecking havoc so I was going to try and intercept them.

Through earlier scouting I had seen a couple of trails under a barbed wire fence that they had been using. Just before dark I situated myself about 20 yards downwind of one of these trails..

Darkness fell and still no pigs, but I was there and decided to hang around for a while. Sure enough half an hour after dark I saw a form move across the turnrow and go into the maize..

I had a little one cell AA headlight and turned it on and eased forward.. I thought I could hear the pig and kept moving trying to see it but never had any success. However I heard some others just upwind about 100 yards away. So I crept through the maize towards them..

As I got closer I tried to stay down wind of them but there were several and I couldn't keep track of them.. They continued to feed all around me but the maize is so thick I never saw them.

I dogged them for 2 hours until finally this little sow poked her head out and eased into an opening. She was about 15 yards and moving.
I made a terrible shot !! Actually the arrow hit well but I'm not sure why.. I know I didn't get close to full draw and snap shot. Suppose I thought my opportunity was right NOW..  Anyway,
she got the point ---------.

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Pigs tremble at the sound of your name; I'm surprised any are left in your part of the state.
