I'm shooting a RER longbow 53#@27 I'm drawing 27 1/2 ". How do I know what is to light of an arrow to shoot out of it. I just built some gold tip 3555 that weigh 416 gr. W/ a 125 point included in that weight. I do not want to hurt my bow. Can anyone tell me if I've got enough arrow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank-you, Mark

That is about 7 1/2 gpp. It's really light but not so light that it will damage your bow.

Are they full length? If you want to up weight you could shorten and up point weight/insert.

Actually, this is the correct forum, since your question relates to equipment and not to shooting form.

You didn't say what you want to use the bow for.  For hunting, I would recommend a heavier arrow: maybe a 5575 with a 150 or 175 grain point.  Many would recommend even heavier.  For targets, your setup is probably okay. If you have any doubts, I would call the bowyer and ask him if the arrow you are using is too light for the bow.  Anything less than 8 gpp is marginal.
