Hello I'm new to Trad Gang and should introduce myself. I'm 11 years old and have loved archery my whole life. I am involved in a group called Powder Creek Traditional Archers. I shoot 3d and just started bow hunting. My whole family loves archery and this website. We try to make self bows. And I would love to talk with some local Trad Gang members from the Asheville and Madison county area in NC.

Thanks,
Haven

Welcome to Trad Gang!  It's great you are getting involved in archery at a young age.  It's something you can share with your family, and enjoy for the rest of your life.

Welcome Haven.

Check the trad events forum. We have a shoot in Burligton in August. Hope you and your family can make it  :)

Not exactly from Ashville but I come to Haywood College each spring for the ABS Great Smoky Mountain Knife Hammer-in.  You'd be surprised at the number of great knife makers are into traditional archery.  I spend the winters in Aiken, SC about 3 hours south...tippit

Hello and welcome,

It's great to see young archers coming on here as you will be the one's to carry on the tradition.

I live outside of Brevard and have shot Powder Creek for a few years now. Linda and Joe Britton are great folks. I'm having a small primitive skills event at my property the weekend before Powder Creek; bow building, arrow making, flint knapping, etc. You are welcome to come for the weekend or Saturday. Send me a PM if you are interested and I'll give you directions.
Make the most of all that comes and the least of all that goes!

Hi Buckwinkle, and welcome to Tradgang. If I had to pick a year when I made the most progress in shooting a bow, it would be the year when I was 11 years old. You are in a good year, enjoy.

Pat B is a good place to learn. Also, Carolina Traditional is having their monthly meeting and shoot this Saturday. They are a great well rounded primitive/traditional club with lots of skills and good people. If you are ever down this way (Mebane, NC) stop by the shop. We are less than a mile off I-85.

Welcome!!  Nice to have a younger member.  This is a great place to learn and enjoy stories.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Definitely heed T. Lail's advice and contact Mike Treadway.  I think he still doesn't have a web site, but you can probably find his phone # with a search here.
