Guys the other day I was thinking of trying to make a bow out of Red Elm and Bamboo. So I bought a real nice Red Elm stave and want to try and back it with a piece of Bamboo. Anybody out there ever try  this combo. The stave is 66" long. I want to make it in the flatbow design if it can be done. 50 lb. range. Give me some dimensions on width of limbs ect. Also I will try and put a little reflex in the limbs. My previous experience with Red Elm was not good. Lots of string follow.  Dean

A great combo IMO! Only built one with red elm but I was impressed with it's performance. Bow was 64" ntn with 1 1/2" width limbs. Give it a try, don't think you'll be disappointed.-ART B

You'll want to get the boo really thin so it doesn't over power the elm belly.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Goodbye Shiner you were always a good dog.

it should be a good one Dean... looking forward to seeing it done.
