I've been out the last 2 mornings here in Ohio.  By the time I hike a mile into the woods and put up a climber, I'm about drenched.

I've seen 2 little bucks at first light and that's it.  Skeeters about eat me alive this mornin.

Is anyone else seeing any deer past 8 am???

Often I don't hunt here untill the weather cools off.I hate to think if I don't recover an animal fast enough it will be spoiled by the heat.It still is nearly 90 for a large part of the day.

Gary Greene

I went out this morning and saw a 4 point at 7am. I stayed till 9:30 didn't see any other deer. Had a bunch of turkeys around me. They were really enjoying the acorns. Hopfully it cools down next week.

Irish

Its been HOT here in NE Kansas.  Been out one afternoon - not much moving except a few turkeys.  Next week is starting to look better.

when you guys say hot, what temp are you refering too?

Because, I'll hunt whiteys in the heat and bugs alot more than in the cold.  The only thing I like about late season deer huntin' is the rut. But so much of the your late season here in montana is shared w/gun fire I don't do it.

I've kill deer and elk in 90+ degree weather and liked it but don't get me wrong I like 60'sand70's best.

Not seeing 'em past 8:30 or so.  I've  been out several times, but nothing in range yet.

Jerseys hot like that! 90 DEGREES Today Come on FROST!

kctreeman

It's hot here in Kansas City.  Irish and I a refering to 80-90 degrees.  It's only getting down in the 70's at night.  Just kind of kills the desire to hunt when it's this hot.  We have a long season here in MO and KS and we use this time to show the wifes that we don't have to be in the woods all the time.  Look out as soon as that coldsnap gets here though.

the Ferret

yep, we're in the 90's as well. Here there's a front moving in next week that should cool it off.

Brian you are allowed to quarter and remove skin when you shoot something. We have to drag and transport whole. Too much of a chance of losing your hard earned meat, having the hide slip and a lot of other probs in this heat.

Come on Down to Louisiana boys.... It will make you go to church on Sunday and go down to the altar.... (you will not want to go to the eternal hot place)...

In other words, it is HOT hot down here...
Blessings,
Steve

It's hot as well here in PA, low 80's. Too dang hot for this time of year. Went out monday night and only saw a bunch of turkeys. I'm sure it's just too hot for them to move before dark. Hopefully it cools down soon. Best of luck to everyone!!

trapperDave

been a scorcher here too low-mid 90's, heat index tomorrow of 101 in central IN

Otto

Well I have Monday off work for Columbus day and I think I'm just going to skip hunting that morning.  It's supposed to be 90 degrees again.  As Mickey said, in Ohio we have to transport the entire animal and there's just too much risk of losing the entire deer to spoilage and that would be a waste.

Come on cold front!!!!
Otto

Roy from Pa

I have not Hunted yet, just too darn hot.

Same here. It was 88 today. We put up some stands but didn't even think about hunting. Shot a few arrows, sweated a bunch and fed the skeeters. Hopefully, next weekend will be cooler.

I was mosquito bait this evening. Way too warm for the critters. I did get a shot off at a squirrel though.
Just one more step please!

I'm up at 4am. Went out back in my skivvies and went in and turned the ac up. Checked the weather and looks like tuesday it's gonna be a little cooler and windy. Might be a good day to get into some corn. Think I'll hang a stand today but not interested in killin anything with this heat.

Been great for the farmers, their knockin down the crops. Problem is I aint gonna get to hunt in the corn like I want this year.

CheapShot

Too hot here as well. Was getting ready to go Thursday morning, stepped outside It was 71 degrees at 5:30 A.M. decided to go back to bed. Just to hot.

Best part about all the heat. The farmers will/should be cutting the cattle corn sooner than usual. It should dry out enough for them to cut it. Then the deer will have to be in the hardwoods .
