Hey all,

I wanted to share this because I'm really excited about it. I have made a few selfbows but this is my first venture into a professional style longbow. I am making the bow in a one on one class format with my friend and local bowyer Edward Boyd.
This bow is going to be a reflex/deflex longbow with a recurve style grip (because I like shooting recurves. Bubinga riser, bamboo limb cores and myrtle wood veneers. Pictures to come.

Above: Bubinga riser, my not perfect but workable job on the fade outs, and myrtle wood veneer getting glued

Almost all the pieces together.
All set, checking to make sure everything lined up right

More pictures to come, I will start tillering today

Wow, I tried my hand at making a couple of '50 style recurves. I never got fade outs that fine! Everyone should make at least one bow, it makes paying a custom bowyer a lot easier!

kunsangsean

I know what you mean cedar! This is giving me a much greater appreciation for the art of bow making.
Here's a few from the end of today - I'll throw up more pictures when I have a minute. Its almost there! Definitely took a risk doing veneers this fancy on the first time but it paid off.

Cutting out the back of the riser, and shaping the limb tips.

Well carbon copied to the Bowyers Bench at the very least!  Awesome stuff dude!  Good luck, I'm jealous- dont have the time to do things like this, just have to make due with buying bows!  Those veneers are sweet, I love myrtle!  Anyway, I think it's nice to have something like this on Pow Wow every now and then--lots of folks prolly never check out the Bowyers Bench so this is a chance for them to see some neat stuff.

Thanks guys, I hadn't ever seen the bowyer's bench forum - now I know. Orders, haha, that will be a long while and lots of practice.
Here she is finished, and man does it shoot nice.

Well, first one by my hands but with a LOT of instruction from Edward  :)  Trinity Falcon is the bow design, limb design originally by Gary Sentman

OK, but you've got pretty good hands! Must be a hockey player...
Nice job and it shoots as well, can't ask for much more.
