OK boys, here is a teaser pic. We just got in from camping and this is the view I had to put up with in the Bighorns. Don't know where you are going to be hunting, but this is the type of place that holds a few deer and elk, not to mention trout. Enjoy your time in our great state, and if I can be of assistance, feel free to holler at me.
If you don't like cops, next time you need help, call Al Sharpton

Yeah, that right there gets the juices pumping.  I'm ready to quit these 12 hr days and start walking to get there on time.

It's going to be an epic adventure for sure!
Not sure exactly where you will be, but I spent a month west of Burgess Junction a few years ago.  I was after elk rather than deer, but would share what I know if you will be in that area.
Good luck guys! Planning is all part of the fun!

Good luck and enjoy the mountains fellas. I am already in camp here in CO. Came here in 1965 and fell in love. This makes 49 consecutive years so beware as you can see it is very easy to become addicted.
Time spent alone in the woods puts you closer to God.

There is a place for all God's creatures....right next to the potatoes and gravy.

Just had lunch with Roger, and it is now a reality.  Major details worked out, now on to the finer points with constant leg and lung conditioning, and not to mention plenty of shooting practice.

I can't believe how squared away Mike is with regards to planning this hunt. Everyday I get a text or email with something simple yet brilliant. Today he was tweaking out his pack list a bit, he called me to check out redundant "stuff". Awesome.

For my prep today, I did 30 minutes on the stairs, and then went immediately to shooting my bow while I was panting and heaving. Big fun...

So Roger, after 30 minutes on the stairs what floor did you end up on?    :biglaugh:

Roger and Mike, you guys are smart to get in shape for the hunt. I don't know what elevation you'll be hunting at but I know the first time I went west many years ago I was a smoker and the thinner air where I hunted, just about did me in...    :deadhorse:   In hunts after that I had quit smoking and before every trip I built up my legs by jogging every day with a heavy backpack (they didn't have Stair Masters back then)....it paid off.

I didn't know you were a runner Ron.  When did you quit?  3rd or 4th step???

All I'm doing right now is Legs and Lungs.  It's better to over prepare then to under prepare.

Here is my July time challenge...Do this for time on the 1st and then on the 31st of July.

50 squats
25 crunches
15 burpies

My time was 3 minutes 49.4 seconds.  (Plenty of room for improvement)

I thought I was doing good in the lung department, but I was sucking air like a fat kid does eating cake.

I'm interested after training harder for a month what my time will be on the 31st.

Anybody else wanna try this with me.  No prizes, not even bragging rights.  All your going to get out of this is healthier.

After my first knee replacement 13 years ago I quit running. After my 2nd knee replacement 12 years ago I quit walking fast...    :D

We just met for lunch with a well rounded hunting friend and learned some excellent information about hunting as a team using a simple flagging system to get the hunter where they need to be.  Sometimes the simplest things are simply brilliant.

The days are starting to drag, must mean hunting season is fast approaching.
