Some of you may remember me starting a thread a couple of weeks ago about yew bows, and that I had never show one....we'll cept a 115# war bow a few years back but that don't count cause all I know was it was HEAVY on the draw,...anyhow, I wanted to know how one shot with my normal hunting weights....

Well, I got two in the mail.....one From Doug Campbell, and one from Walt Francis.

I just wanted to make a public thank you for them sending me these bows to play with.   Mighty nice gesture....and just another testament of what Trad Gang is about.....got another fellow to thank as well....but that's another post...

That's awesome Terry.  I've had some great Tradgangers either personally reach out to me, or send me something that I was looking for.  This is an awesome forum, that's made great by the great people on it!!     to Walt and Doug!!

I brought back a very nice stave from Washington state if you want to make a bow or if you have someone to make one for you you are more than welcome to it...... :)

I wonder if the one from Walt originated from me??? I traded a yew wood stave for an osage with Walt during last year's NALS. I cut it here in Oregon.

Dave,

It was 1/2 of the stave I got from you, the same one I sent you pictures of.  I was able to get two bows out of that stave.  Thanks again it was a great stave and made two excellent bows. Have you put that osage to good use yet, or are you still too busy with the arrows?
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Arrows, arrows everywhere! haha  Glad to see you made good use of the yew.

Terry next time I'm up in "yew country" I'll have to take a few pics so you can see where your stave came from. From Oregon to Montana to Georgia. That bow is "nationwide"!

Terry, I made a yew bow about 18 years ago. Reluctantly I sold it to a friend who just had to have it. Well, he passed away a couple of years ago and the bow is back home where it will stay.

There is something about a yew bow. The wood works so easy that you might doubt the final results. I found that the cast was far better than expected and there was a smoothnes to it that was enjoyable. I'd be interested in knowing if you have the same results.

Good luck and good shooting with these bows. You guys on Tradgang deserve to have a little fun. We are lucky to have you.
