I want to order a nice R/D longbow.  I am very happy with my Predator 'Impact', so that has the recurve side of things wrapped up.

The two best longbows I ever had were my Fox Royal Crown and my Turkey Creek bow.

The T/K was the most underrated bow out there and I only sold it because the grip did not suit me.  I would get Doug to build me another but I think he was banned from here for dishonesty or something.  I would sure love another one of those with a better grip.

The Fox is gorgeous and I should never have sold that.  However, they are fairly expensive (we have to add a lot more for postage to Australia and bad exchange rate, and expensive for a one-piece for shipping).

Can anybody suggest to me a R/D longbow that can be made in a two piece T/D (much easier for shipping to Australia than a long tube)?  It would need to have a full grip (like the Royal Crown), not a H/H type grip.

I think there is a guy on here Steve or Sixby or something - I think he makes one.   Any other suggestions?

If it did not break the bank that would help too .

For two piece Toelke Whip or three piece takedown(my favorite) Stalker Stickbows Coyote hands down best takedown!

For a two-piece, I would suggest taking a look at Javaman bows (a sponsor here). He makes some of the best shooting bows I have had the pleasure of shooting. He also has a few different models to choose from, and I'm sure that you'll find something to strike your fancy and your grip requirements.
For a three-piece, Caribow, Sixby(Eagle Wing), or Big Foot Bows. Check out my new big foot Sasquatch in my thread "Looks CAN Kill". She is absolutely gorgeous, and is the best shooting bow I have owned!

I build both two piece D and Rs and threepiece bows. there is a thread right now on my one piece which is exactly like my two piece called faith and bowyer that shows one of my one piece bows. I use the locket socket method.

If you check out the review section there is a thread on the frontier 66 which shows a locket socket bow.

Hey Steve - thanks for chiming in.   Yes I like the look of your original bow - but it would need to have the sleeve.  What is a string follow bow?  How is your waiting list shaping up at the moment?  Do you post to Australia?

Oh - and one more.  Can you make it with a more full grip like on the Royal Crown.   I can't seem to hit the proverbial barn door with anything like a conventional L/B H/H style grip.  It needs to be more like a recurve grip.  However, if you did that, it may prevent you from doing the sleeve.

I have shipped bows to Australia,. In fact one gentleman has bought four bows from me. His name is Bill Adkinson and he owns a honey company; He sent me a wonderful package of honey made of the different tree flowers in Australia.
I have no problem building a recurve type grip in a two piece. I build it normally and then add to the grip and shape it. I have built many of the D and Rs with medium and even high recurve grips. I could only go to the medium grip with the locket socket though because after that it is too hard to cover with the leather.

A string follow is a D shaped longbow that is deflexed instead of reflexed. They shoot wonderfully but in general are a bit slower than the reflexed longbows. I make up for that with limb design , fast flight and carbon. Mine are actually fairly fast . comparative to slight d and r bows.

Costs about $70 bucks for a one piece longbow.

I've used it couple of times, I have a pse 68" ntn on the way now and will find out the actual cost in a couple of days

Thanks Fanto for the heads-up.  I will check them out.  That is really cheap.  when I got my Fox Royal Crown back in 07, I remember it cost me $150 for the postage on the one-piece.  Seventy sounds a whole let better.

I just picked up a Big Jim Thunderchild. I am a Hill style LB guy by practice but Big Jim has made a truly incredible bow with the TC. The bow is that fastest LB I have shot, for a short LB it draws as smooth as any. The TC is unlike any longbow your going to shoot. It defines Hybrid.
