Well, tomorrow is "Father's Day"...

Some of you here know my 2 boys, Kevin who is 23, and Tyler who is 14. My boys are my best friends!!!!!

Years ago, when the boys were young, we shot for hours in the back yard, and attended many 3-D shoots all summer long. Several years ago, Kevin went off to college, and has since graduated, and moved on with his "adult" life. In March 2012, My now ex-wife had me put out of the house and filed for divorce. The divorce has been very hard on both boys, but mostly Tyler. Last fall was Tyler's 1st year bowhunting. I built a new arrow range at my in-laws, and shot with him every other weekend during "visitation" in preparation for the upcoming season. In September, we attended a local 3-D shoot, as a last minute preparation. He did VERY WELL!!!!!

I'm back in my house (with all the bills) and have physical custody of Tyler. It has been a LONG time, since I have been to a shoot with both my boys!!!!! My friends gun club is having a 3-D shoot tomorrow for Father's Day. I thought it would be fun, and Tyler was in right away!!! I saw Kevin about a week ago, and mentioned it to him. He said that it sounded like fun, and was sure Tyler would enjoy it!!! He also said that he had to work, and would see me when he got the chance.....

Late last night, I got a phone call from Kevin, asking me what time he needed to be at the house Sunday????? I asked if he was going to the shoot with us??? "Of coarse I am! It's Father's Day, and I want to do something fun with my Dad!!!!!" I'm not ashamed to say, it made me cry.....

Well, today I'm in a tizzy!!! Getting bows, arrows, quivers and gear ready for tomorrow!!!!! Heck, I don't even get this excited over Deer Season!!!!! I just KNOW I won't sleep tonight.....
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

There is a fine line between Hunting, & Sitting there looking Stupid...

Good for you and the boys Chuck...I personally know what you went through....if it was me...I'd probably be behind bars again...at least for a few days...

Like I told you, we'll get together and get those arrows fletched up properly. I don't want to hear any excuses from you or Tyler about missing deer!!!

Our priest gave us a blessing this evening.....may God forgive us for our failures and bless us for our good deeds.  I said to myself, "that is about the best Father's Day gift a Dad can get"!!!

That is Soooooo cool....   :jumper:   I got all choked up and threw down my guns here... I love it when I hear stories like this....

it IS just like Christmas eve for me too. My daughter and I are going to go do a canoe trip tomorrow morning.... She's never tried bow fishing before. So i'm going to bring my fishing bow along besides our bass gear....    :jumper:    :jumper:

I gotta get some sack so I can get up early...

Happy Fathers day to all you dads out there!

Chuck, this is great.  I too have something similar. I have lost both my parents, but my 79 year old father in law is up with us this weekend and me along with my boys, are taking him fishing on my boat.  He was an avid fisherman, but has been in a wheelchair as a result of a stroke for 10-years. His left side is useless. I bought a one armed fishing apparatus for him for Christmas two years ago and he doesn't get to use it often. I am excited for him. He didn't sleep last night and my mother in law threatened him tonight before he went to bed to not keep her awake.

I know what you are feeling.  I am so excited for you.

Enjoy YOUR day with your sons Chuck. This is some kind of special and THANK YOU for sharing.   Wow!!!!
