Just a topic of curiosity, what would you guess your average yardage would be in the kills you have made?
I would guess mine to be about 16 yrds. for an average.   :campfire:

12 to 15 is my guess. I never measure

There was a similar thread earlier this year, and 12 yards seemed to be the most common answer.

I have never hunted with a stickbow although I certainly intend to do so this year.  I have killed in excess of 40 deer with a compound bow with 40 yards being the longest kill but the average can't be over 18 yards.  Many kills within 10 yards.

I read once...  Shooting is seeing how far you can get from something and still hit it.  Hunting is seeing how close you can get before your shoot.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that seems jinxed on the turkeys!! Misery loves company.

1 John 3:1

I hunt on the ground and find that being about 20 yards off of the trail gives me a bit of tolerance for getting off a shot. If I am too close the average deer is a bit quicker to react to anything I may do that can give away my scent or position. My average is about 24 yards.

For me 12 yards is the magic number     :archer2:

I've only killed two deer with my recurve so far, but one was at 7yds and the other at 11yds.
