Hmmm..... Wonder how many Charlie's got in the cooler???

Stone Knife- It's been my observation that there's only one or two Big Frogs in each pond I hunt. I don't know if there's a reason or just coincidence.  The trick is having enough spots to hit. We find bull frogs and some big green frogs. I only go once a year so I do wish we had more big ones. I hunt Erie and Catt counties.  

That right there is fixin's for meal of LEGS!

I recently have been wanting to start harvesting frogs, afterall there are more than 1000 miles of navigable waterways within 1.5 hours all around me, in the heart of the Delta.  That doesn't even count the ditches, irrigation, ponds and backwaters.  The native specie has been driven to near extinction by over harvesting during the gold rush and later by the invasive Bull frog.

Yes, there is a reason you see only one or two bigguns per waterway, they are the dominant male.  They can and do eat anything that fits in their mouth, including other bulls.

What poundage are you shooting?  I see a perfectly good reason to build a seperate board bow for froggin!  Oh, no season or limit on American Bullfrogs here, and almost no restrictions.  Just can't have any way to destroy habitat to unearth amphibians (move logs, smash rocks, dig up burrows, etc.).

Jim, Yes there are Bull frogs here and No, Not many big ones.  I have found a few ponds though where there are some HUGE ones but they are off limits.

The frogs that Curt and Cade shoot seem to be much larger than what I usually see.

My limited experience seems to be a lot like Michael's.

I did not go froggin today but found a great way to spend the day with like minded bow folks instead.  Thanks again to my host and ride.  You guys know who you are
