not a giant but shot her at 10yds. She was comming straight on. The arrow went through the lung and bounced off the sternum. 50 lb hickory board bow.
My buddy shot one 150 yds up the ridge 5 minutes earlier.

Congrats!!! For some reason I cannnot see your picture, just a red x in a box.
To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

Giant or not I bet she'll have a special place in your memories for the rest of your life. Nothing like the first one. The fact that you did it with a bow (that I assume) you made yourself makes it that much sweeter.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Goodbye Shiner you were always a good dog.

Legolas

It is a great thing to limit yourself to the restrictions of primitive gear and then harvest.
You can not eat horns anyway, right?

My first  harvest is what we call a suitcase deer. So small I could carry it almost like a suitcase. But I still have great memories of how large I thought it first looked.
