Just got a used Vyperkahn, a triple carbon, 60" Bocote,  seems noisey, what braceheight you guys using? When i got the bow its at 8.5, would a skinny string help quiet those carbon limbs? Does anyone make skinny strings that a person could get in a weeks time, or have them at the Compton shoot? I really like the bow its a great shooter for sure, but would like to pick up a 57.5 skinny string if anyone knows someone that would have one.  Thanks Dave forgot to add that i have the longbow limbs

I build my own strings and have tried everything from 8 to 16 strands of FF on my VK.IMO the biggest effect was the serving.Went to a mono instead of the sur-grip that comes w/ the bow.
Keep in mind, carbon limbs do make a different sound when compared to wood core limbs.
I shoot mine at 8.25'' brace.

I agree with Overbo.  Send A.S. (Allen Shafer) a PM.  He made a skinny string with wool silencers specifically for my Habu that made it quiet. Good luck. Ward

I think 8.25 to 8.75 is the range for brace height but would call Chris Cox direct if you dont have the paperwork that comes with the bows for setup.  Make sure the limbs are tight....and if you dont have silencers I would put a set on there trying the catwhiskers first....as they can make a huge difference.
Keep em sharp,

Are you talking about the longbow or recurve limbs? I brace mine at a shade over 8.5 and it is nice and quiet.

Friend

Sure hope your issue is cleared up in short order.

My VK w/triple carbon LB limbs was quiet from the get go and I shoot three under.

My VK is quiet but when I bought it, it was already sporting one of our strings.

Just a dumb question here but have you tried a lower brace. The belly mounted D and Rs I have had experiences with liked 7 to 7 1/2 inches.

God bless and good luck, Steve

Chris told me to put mine at 8 1/4 inches but mine likes a tad over 8.5 better. Just keep moving it around till you find the sweet spot.

This is my first bow with carbon limbs, is it normal when the bow is strung to be able to move the top part of the limbs back and forth, its like the limbs are really flimsy, never seen anything like it.

It's normal.Kinda got me thinking too but after a while I got over it.

Just got done shooting some, braceheight at 8 3/8, shoots really well, a tad bit noisey, hoping my new skinny string and wool puffs from Al Schafer will quiet that down a bit.So far i am impressed with the bow, my master plan is that i am on the list for a Blacktail, got about a year to go, is to get down to two bows and sell the rest, i thought if i have a habu and blacktail, i wouldnt need any more bows.  Habu Vyperkahn-longbow, Habu Bushmaster, Kota Prairie Swift, Dwyer Original, Mojostik, Cascade Brushawk, this last one is a sweet little 56" bow, awsome in blind and stand, may have to keep that one.

Its called verticle stability . what you are describing is in most R and D longbows. Itis what it is and most D and R bows seem to have it . Some to a greater degree. If you have a good release, no problem. If marginal you will get fliars in your grouping and not be able to justify where they came from. Its an attribute that is not present in the D shaped longbow and in some D and Rs that are not as reflexed.

God bless , Steve

mooshkat...My BH was set at 8 5/8".

Well now i know why i get a flyer every once in a while, i will be grouping good all of a sudden one goes 8" right or left. But i will tell you, when i grabbed the bottom limb and pulled on it a little and it snapped back 4" And pulled in the top limb the same and only with 3 fingers and a thumb, i was shocked, i thought something was wrong, really weird.
