I switched to a bow that places my hand closer to the arrow which does help my accuracy.  However, the fletching keeps cutting my finger.  Any advice?   These arrows are fletched x3.  It happens no matter how I rotate the arrow to change the fletching orientation.  Would four fletchings actually help?

I would see if theres anything on the tips of the quills you can trim off and then cover the tips of the quills with a dab of super glue and slowly rotate the arrow till it dries. Or wear a bow hand glove, theres lots of different kinds on the e bay.

Glove? Or move your nock height and brace height. Try different wing feathers?? Duct tape can be very useful. What kind of feathers you using?

These are 5 inch Truflight..  I believe that is the name.

Put a big dollop of glue on the tip. You can also put a thin piece of tape around it. Just measure the same for each arrow and it won't even be noticeable. I've got tape on the bottom of all mine. Makes the feathers get beaten up less in your quiver too.

I was told by an old timer archer once that if you get feather bite and your are right handed, try fletching left helical and it will rotate feathers away from your hand and prevent the bite. Never tried it so can't say if it works.

i had an old flat bow that would do that to me, the cuts weren't bad but i just eventually built up callus and it stopped cutting me there lol idk how bad yours are. maybe try sanding them?

I shoot right handed. Right wings love to bite me.

I had the same thing with a right wing feather.  Switched to a left wing and it solved the problem

I was getting cut pretty bad by my fletching so I started shooting cock feather in and it fixed the problem.

Raise the nock a wee bit and see if that eliminates the problem...worked for me.

It's the quills cutting your finger. Try a higher nock point or double nocking points if you haven't done so.

My problem was solved by lowering the nock point I would try adj nock as others have stated

I had it happen a few times and rotated my nock, which took care of the problem.

You probably need to use a really sharp knife and smooth the ends of the feathers down and add a bit of glue. Smooth the glue out also cause a little bitty dob sticking up will get you too. Some say right wing/left wing makes no diff but my finger will tell you that ain't always so. There's probably ancient sound reasoning behind "right hand, left wing: left hand, right wing. Not debating, just agreeing with my finger     It knows for me.

Great advice.  One thing suggested is raising the nock which I havent tried.  One other question....Is always the quill that cuts or can it be the actual feather?

When I get bit, it is the leading edge of the quill and I find it has been damaged so that the end is pretty rough. Sand it, trim it and put a dab of glue on it.

Additionally, if you get your finger too high, you will get bit no matter how smooth you get the quill. Then all you can do is move your finger.

 

I noticed today, that one set of arrows was kicking slightly to the right, and the other set was flying true. Both were right wing, the set that would kick once in awhile would hit my finger, the other that flew perfectly straight never touched my finger, and my finger was almost right up against the arrow.

So make sure your arrows are tuned well.

Had same problem I switched to the left helical from right this took care of my problem.
