I was slightly involved in this project, thought these could be of interest..

Oh man, I am going to have some of those!  Can you get the damascus as sharp or sharper than the standard steel?

damascusdave

You think a guy with my username ought to have some?
I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

I'm a "want to have" and probably will be a "do have", but you Dave are a "must have".

I don't know, Steve.  Abowyer have great steel that will get very sharp.  I would think these would get at least as sharp and hold their edge very well.  That said, I'm thinking a display arrow, not something that I'm gonna shoot at a critter.

I wonder what a set of these would have brought on the St Jude Auction?

They take and hold a very good edge, I don't think the men at Abowyer would put their stamp on them otherwise.

Very nice.....nice price each as well. I would want to hunt with it so that is too much for my blood at $53 each.   :(   Then again, one would look great in rack next to a Pearson Deadhead that is unshot.  :)

Wow, beautiful head, but geez, a quiver full of them would cost more than a lot of bows I have bought:) I do understand why they cost that much, whole lot of skill and workmanship right there! Wow again!!!

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!

In theory damascus will have micro saw teeth because of the two or more types of steel folded together. The original idea of damascus for swords of old was a blade that would take a keen edge, be strong and able to be bent but not break in two because it does not have a grain structure. That was a redneck descrption but maybe you get the idea. With todays great steels its not nessesary,i think its just the cool factor more than anything.

Without even seeing this thread I saw them on their site when I was looking for new heads, bought three immediately. They have been a grail item of mine for a long while.

Very pretty, no, gorgeous!, no doubt functional, best as a display arrow or for the aristocrats among us.  I appreciate them as art, but for hunting Silverflames are cheaper.

I saw them on their site, I would say they would be a must have for a serious collector. I have 6 of the 'Bonehead's' 145 on my Easton ACC hunting arrows.
