When I asked my good friend Bo Hunter Turner (Joel's son) at the time he was 4 yrs old, when he started shooting, he looked me straight in the eye and said " I didn't start shooting seriously until I was 18 months old"
"I'm a trophy hunter till something else comes along"

My 4 year old.  Bought him a new Longbow at this shoot.  I'll have to get some pictures of him with it!

Here are some pictures of my two great-nephews.

My nephew Dan and his wife adopted Maja from Etheopia two years ago.  He loves to go to bow shoots and to go hunting with his Dad.

My nephew Dave (dhermon85) has this 2 1/2 year old.  He was born with a heart defect that has required him to have 2 open heart surgeries so far and has a couple more ahead of him.

I can't wait to share a hunt with each of them.

These sorts of threads always make me smile.  I've spent a lot of time away from home at college this year, 1200 miles from my bows and arrows and the shoots.  I love seeing kids get into it like I did not that long ago.  Just wanted to share a story about kids shooting.  A few years ago I was at a shoot, and there was a father and son duo in the group right in front of us on the course.  Son was about 16 or 17.  Came up behind them on about a 35 yard shot at a standing bear as the son was shooting, last of the group, and watched him Robin Hood his dad's arrow right in the middle of the kill zone.  The look on his dad's face was to die for, I don't think he even minded losing the arrow.  Keep them shooting.  My generation needs all the archers we can get
