Here is my Ben Pearson special. It is marked XX45#.Anyone know what the XX means?

Wannabe1

I was told that it means a little more than 45#. Most likely 47# at 28". That is the same as marked on the bow I have coming.

XX45 would be about 43#. 45XX would be 47#. Kind of an odd way to spec them, but that's the way they did it back then.

^^ yes, xx before number means slightly less...after means slightly more.

If you like the Safari logo, check these other Pearson logos.  There are a bunch more.  They quit using this type logo about 1967.  I have at least one of each of these bows-love their logos!!!

I went to a club meeting and shoot last weekend and a young man was there as a guest. He was shooting a Ben Pearson Sovereign that was found in a dumpster of all places. It was a neat bow!!
The Sovereign that Ron's speaking of is a golden conqueror, and if you liked that one Ron, there was also a golden emperor with all white glass that's in even better shape yet!

Thanks for the clarification on the X's folks. Appreciate it.

Phil, those are some cool looking logos. Thanks for taking the time to post them.

Downtime

I took my first whitetail with a 35Lbs fiberglass recurve bow back behind the barn, back in 1973.

I have a Golden Sovereign (1961)/ Golden Crusader 1007 it is a 54" bow and at my 29" draw it is 44Lbs.  This is my shortest and oldest bow, I own.  Not a fun bow to shoot for a period of time because of finger pinch.  She has harvested a few deer for me in the past.

Pretty cool stuff......I had a 55# Cougar and hunted with it for several years.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy I'm so excited! I just acquired a 1959 Pearson Safari. 66" and 40# @ 28".    :bigsmyl:

Funny how one can get excited over something that old! Just as exciting to me as ordering a new custom bow.    :biglaugh:

All I've got to do now is wait for it to get here.

Selfbow, thanks for showing the logo's. That is way cool.

The first deer I shot was with a Ben Pearson Flame Hunter.  I sure like that bow and have have purchased several other Pearson bows over the years.  I don't have a Stallion but do have a Colt which would be similar, very nice shooting bow. You're going to like it.

T.W., You're really going to like it. They are very nice and soooooo smooth. I still want one that is 50- 60#. Let's see some pictures when you get.
I would've taken better care of myself,if I'd known I was gonna live this long!

I like those old Pearson bows, those logos are sweet! I bought a couple Cougars from a member here a while back to refinish and give away to newbies and ended up keeping one for myself for now. It needs a lot of work, the top limb is twisted and I think I might try reworking the fat grip a little. The brown glass is in decent shape.

Here's the one I gave to a Colorado buddy, he shoots it great. Not the best pic, it has some camo limb covers my girlfriend made. Farthest back. 45#er:

Thanks guys, I'll definitely get pics up when it arrives. I will be posting pics of the Stallion first as it arrives on Tuesday.

The Safari is shootable but, needs a little TLC. I'm going to see if I can send it in and have it refinished by someone. Hopefully they can keep the decal as you can't get aftermarket ones like Bear.
