Aluminum footing woodies?

I saw a guy at the range that had an aluminum arrow footing on his wood shafts which allowed him to use a screw in point. Has anyone tried this, and what size  fits an 11/32 shaft?

It was probably these:  

Very similar to the Tophat adapters...the only apparent difference is that the Tophat system does not require the shaft to be tapered for installation thereby probably making it a stronger system.... it is also more expensive and requires extra tools to purchase.
