I use a ghillie poncho that has a lot of light color streaks in it.  Depends a lot on where you are hunting and if you stay to the shadows.

I use mine on the ground and in low tree stands.

And ghillies work great...so does the search function.

Hey Perun,  I made one and although I don't have any kills yet, I have had hawks and crows land near me and stay a while.  I feel like both of those birds see very well.  I have read posts from other hunters with even better stories about birds landing on their head!  I would say try to match the tone of your hunting area for all seasons you will hunt, grass dies, leaves fall, etc.  I hope that helps.  Cheers

Hey Guys,   Perun obviously speaks English, but I think he's from a different culture than ours and that is a situation that easily leads to misunderstandings.  Just saying...

Ghillie suits work.  Give them a chance.  

I have had a lot of experience with them and use them more than tree stands now.  I like the kind that have patches of material, not the strands of yarn (see Rancho safari site)  Mine is a RS but I am sure others are fine.  I can't afford to own one of each.  

I DO want to own a second suit.  My first is very light tan.  Not so great in early season.  I stand out.  I want to get one that is green or darker.

They take some practice and getting used to, especially in the area of shooting arrows.  Practice early and get the trimming, adjusting etc done.

If you sit still, the critters will trip on your feet.

Perun, I hesitate to say one is better than another.  I have and like the Rancho Safari ultralight with boonie (not hood).  But that's me, and that's the only one I have seriously tried.  I am certain that there are other great versions out there as well.  And mine wasn't cheap, by any means.  

Like bows, I think you will need to look at web sites and talk to folks like you are doing and just pick one that catches your eye.

I think, more important, is what you do with it after you get it, cause they are not magic (just. .  almost) and they have some flaws with respect to shooting and stalking.

I made mine.  I used a Leafy Wear suit as a base, and tied jute bunches into slits I cut into the suit jacket.  I used netting tied to a boonie hat and then tied jute bunches through the netting.

No differences in leaf suit and ghillie suit? Equally effective is a matter of personal choice?

Sorry Mike, my phone's fault and I did not even see

Last year, and just last weekend, I proved to myself that ghillies work. BUT.....they can be a pain. Mine picked up every thorn, briar, cactus needle, and broken twig that I came across. It was bad enough that I eventually "poked" myself every time i put the thing on and then every time i adjusted it.

My recommendation is to use it when you think you'll really need it, and leave it at home when you can get away without it.

I got the marc anthony ghillie suit which is designed by a bow hunter. It is light weight and has some good features. Search the web for reviews and Utube.

I bought a separate head piece as the one that comes with the suit is sewn onto the jacket. I found I could not turn my head freely with it

I bought the Chameleon face veil at Ghillie suit warehouse and really like it.
