Just wondering; we have a late spring here in S/E Wi., and the morels are usually up by Mothers Day, but nothing so far.

We found a measly TWO then the next day the temps dropped, had a cold cold rain and then it snowed!!! Hoping still to be able to get enough for a meal later this week.

Tracy - looks like you folks had a good crop in KS.

It was a little too dry here in NY, then last week we finally got some rain over a couple of days.  They started popping, but they are few and far in between.  I found a bunch this past weekend, but it sure is a down year.  Had fresh eggs, ramps and morels yesterday morning.

About 900...sheesh.  That's a pile!

I have been out three times (NE Missouri)- first definitely too early, no luck; second, seemed perfect, no luck; last time, found two big ones...hoping to get out again and find the other 898 soon.

bigiron

Wow Tracy, can say with certainty, that I've never seen that big of score. Impressive. Was hopeful earlier last week when I found a couple in the yard and was hoping for a warm rain, but the weather went cold.

10 tonight.  Only 890 more to go.

It isn't bad enough that you have all those big bucks in Kansas now this.   :readit:

We need a how to find them thread so everyone can share their secretes.  I think Tracy can start off.      :readit:   [/QB][/QUOTE]

No tricks, just some good spots a couple bow hunting sons that love to find them to. I'm recovering from three brain surgery's so I only got out twice but found a couple hundred They found the rest.

Lots of rain this spring and we started finding them the first real warm up in and around the creek bottoms. It really cooled off but didn't slow them down much once they started going.

We like to check around the old dead elm trees and we did find some there but this year we found most in a new spot in the sycamore trees with a few dead elms around. We do take all the little pieces left over on the cutting boards and counter and spread them back around the areas we found them each year.

Found some nice ones this year!
