Guess I do have an ego... Need to swallow the pill... Little Mikey is a bit "over-bowed"! Not in how many, but in draw weight... The bright side is I can sell what I have and buy new stuff!  :jumper:  That's as long as I get the OK from my honey...  :archer2:  ...

It do! A 46# bow is a pleasure to shoot, even for a young gorilla like your own self. I wont bash yo buddy.

Maxx Black

I found my concentration on the pull of the string more than the target, dropped the weight a bit and game on!

I really think alot of us are overbowed depending on your shooting style. I shoot the way Rick Welch does in that I like to "hold" for 2 or 3 seconds before release. I know in this style of shooting I can shoot 45 lbs better than 55 lbs.

Lots and lots of game killed with a 40#-45# bow. I'm just saying.   :bigsmyl:

Mikey, I know you can sell your bows and buy new ones, buy a Caribow buddy. I am so glad I did!! I just did the opposite, I am feeling healthy again and full of piss and vinegar and I am going up in weight. You would be surprised what a 3-4 pound drop will do for your shooting!! Shawn

I agree with ya. I just went form 55lbs at my draw to 45 @28 which puts me at at 50lbs. My shooting has gotten much more consistent.

Drop down and feel comfortable, where you can shoot 3D without getting arm fatigue and on those cold bowhunting days, draw back easier.

I'm very happy bowhunting with 52# and 55# even though I can still handle 58#. The lighter weight may also cure any bad habits.

45-47# for 3D...and then max out at 50# for bowhunting. Today's bows are much more efficient and you won't have any problems putting a whitetail on the ground.

When switching from right hand to left hand, I picked up another inch in draw length.

I moved down a couple of pounds on my draw weight, to compensate, and it just feels more comfortable.

It really doesn't make any difference how far an arrow sticks in the ground after a pass through.

Good for you for making the move.

Mike, 45 or 46 at your draw is a pleasure to shoot and plenty of bow to kill deer and such.

I really enjoy shooting and hunting with #45lbs. It just feels right and I'm much more accurate and consistent than with my old #55.

Uh oh... Someone is coming over to the dark side.... But don't brag about it. Lots of people get angry around here when you say "lighter draw weight"

mcgroundstalker

Thanks Everyone! We all know "shot placement" is the key when hunting... For me, when working the cover for deer, the shot will be a close and quick one... Some of the best shots I know use 40-45lbs. for both hunting and 3D... Guess I just needed to think out of the box...    :dunno:   A heavy arrow that is quick to stabilize and flies true is what puts game down for keeps.

Waysiah, my Brother.....

When the Great Spirit guides your arrow, it makes little differance how heavy the bow.....
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

There is a fine line between Hunting, & Sitting there looking Stupid...

May The Great Spirit Guide Your Arrows..... Happy Hunting!!!
