In the beginning was John Strunk who begat Ghost Dog, sstewa, nineworlds9 and now Buckhorn47. An osage selfbow made by John now resides in the hands of an old Canadian. I just had to add this photo of the first target this bow met while in my hands. After a five-shot practice round to get familiar with how the bow shot, six arrows were sent to individual spots, in a clockwise manner and this was the result. The bow is 58lbs at 27" and after cutting some heavier spined completed laminated birch arrows from 31"to 28" that weigh 650 grains, I can tell you this bow is quiet ( no silencers ), stacks quite a bit when pulled beyond 27" but what a bow! These arrows were shot at a distance of 9 yards, but very unusual for me to ever hit six spots with six arrows. So, thank you, my brethren.

Buckhorn47. I envy you to have a osage Strunk bow. A osage bow of this design I think is one of the nicest shooting bows a hunter can carry. I built my osage in the early ninetys and it's still going strong. 64 in. 55 lbs. John was camping beside me I think in the late eighties at the Great Lakes shoot and I had coffee a couple mornings with him. A great guy and I'm sure he inspired me to build my own. Great looking arrows too. Share your hunting stories with us this fall if you carry this bow.

Congrats. Osage is my favorite wood of all time and one day, I'll have an osage selfbow.

Frank!!!  I AM SO HAPPY YOU LOVE HER!  I never did get to hunt with her, I always ended up grabbing something else when I headed into the woods, but I HOPE with all my heart you get a chance at some beautiful beast.  That bow is special in every sense of the word, from the quality of the osage, to the firey glow, to the way it shoots an arrow.  I loved that bow but it was not the one for me and I am SO glad it found a loving home where it will get to shoot and shoot and shoot its little bow heart out!  Big grin from me at your pics!!   :D   :D   :D

Chuck

I did not have to change anything on the bow as delivered, left the string as it was, simply altered the arrows and the nock opening to fit. Thanks, again for a very forthright transaction.
