i just got some 2020 leg. i thought back win i was shooting a 50# hawkeye they shot really good with 190 up front. but it seams out of my 48# @28 pred classic they are acting way stiff i was planning on shooting 200 or more what ever i needed up front to make a 29" arrow work but they are still acting stiff wth a 300 plus upfront any help this is driving me crazy thinking maybe my side plate is to thick would that make a whole lot of difference

Looking at Stu's calculator.  Ball park should be around 150 gr. if you draw 28".

Is your side plate built out?

Never question a man's choice in bows or the quality of an animal he kills.  He is the only one who has to be satisfied with either of those choices.

dont look like it has a bear rug like felt on it is about a 1/8 shy i think just not making sense to me thought ssure i could make these work

dink

how much does side plate thickness affect spine

threeunder

Distance your arrow is from center, whether cut of the bow or strike plate thickness, is just about the whole shebang.

I agree with 3under because I have seen how much better a 2020 will fly when the riser is cut past center. Not familiar with you bow so can not comment on the riser but try a thin leather side plate instead of the Bear type. Maybe a skinny string might help? Dropping down to 2018 might help and I do not find that much weight difference between the two. I use both sizes out of my longbow, 64lbs@28in.

1/16" of side plate thickness can equal 4-5# of spine.Regardless,it can still be tuned with point weight.

I just took my 48# recurve out that is similar in cut.My 2018's have brass inserts installed so the lowest I can go is about 195 total weight on the front and they are showing weak.

Are you shooting bare shafts? What reaction are you getting that tells you they are weak.

OL Adcock always said if you keep changing point weight and the problem doesn't go away, you went the wrong direction.

I would try lighter points to either rule that in or out, before going further. If that makes it worse, then you know they are definitely too stiff but 300 grs wasn't enough.

Shawn Leonard

You may be getting an opposite reaction, so what you think is stiff is a actually the arrow kicking back the opposite way. I would go the opposite way and try around 145 grains and see what happens. Shawn

ive been shooting bare shafts and just watching them fly tail kicks right will regular test them later 3 feather 3 bare grouping but just wandering my they seam so stiff i was thinking about tail hiting the bow but when i shoot a full lenght bare shaft it seams to fly straight with 235 up front but i want a 29" arrow so i figured i go heavier but seams to me i cant get heavy enough i do think i have a thicker side plate will try a thinner one when able i do have a pcs of tooth pick under the rest to slitly elevate the arrow could that have anything to do with it thanks 4 all the replies so far

Does your keyboard have any punctuation symbols on it? It's easier to help when someone can read sentences.

Large front load on alluminiums can cause some adverse reaction as well.

I think your seeing those effects maybe.
