Got a new Bear Kodiak this week and have not been able to shoot it until today. Have today off but has been raining for the last 24 hours. Moved my target to where I could shoot from the back porch. Set the bow to a brace height of 7 1/2" and nock at 7/16. The bow shoot great no noise, no hand shock. Arrows hitting tail right by quite a bit. They are 62-67 spine ceder for my 52# whip. The Kodiak is a 50#er. I was going to spend the day tuning, but with the rain I just had to shoot the bow. Seemed like the arrows got a little more penetration than the whip. I really like this bow. Do you think 2117's would be to stiff. I got some in a trade. Maybe a heavy point. Any way this is my first update and I live the bow. Jack

Congrats on the new bow. Without knowing your draw length its kinda hard to say, but I'd guess a 2117 would  be too stiff. For  aluminum I'd recommend a   2016 or 2018, depending on your  arrow length and  point weight.

Thanks Zane, I draw 28.5 and my arrows have 145# points.

my guess is the 2117 shaft is too stiff.  but what you can do is check..

assuming you are right hand, bare shaft will be tail right if too stiff.

tend to think a 2016 or2018 but now carbon is so good..I shoot Heritage Carbon Express.

2016s will be fine, even 1918s if you can find them.  I have the same bow that I draw to almost 30.  I can shoot 1916s, 1918s or 2016s.

Ill bet ya you would be solid with a 2016 with 100gr maybe 2018 if you want more mass weight up front...

Jack hope you enjoy your bow as much as I do mine. I have some wood arrows that are shooting good out of mine.
The best thing about owning a dog is that someone is happy when you come home.
