Congrats Pat!!!   :clapper:    :clapper:
I'm so glad for you.  Turkeys to me are so beautiful.  Pics probably don't do any bird justice.  Great job on the turkey Pat.  Any turkey is a trophy to many and next year you can hold out for that big old gobbler.

Mike Gerardi

Beautiful Rio Pat. Very deserving. I never had a doubt. I have seen you in acton to many times. Now you need a eastern under your belt.

Dirtybird

Yeah Pat just put some borax on the tail fan base and the end of the beard to keep the bugs off.

Thanks for taking us along on your first season!

Congrats on the nice bird. Any legal turkey with a stick bow its a true trophy!

Thanks everyone.  I would like to chase Easterns some day, but need to hone some skills first.  I think those decoys resemble eastern hens a fair bit more that the Rios.

Dustin, you are welcome.  We pretty much needed to put you in the barronett blind with your longbow.  I was really hoping that it would come together for you.

A little FYI for those considering getting the grounder 350 blind, it is spacious, pretty well made, and easy to setup.  Pretty nice for the money.  There have been plenty of reviews on this blind saying that the windows are too high, and I most definitely agree.  My solution I thought worked out pretty well, as long as you are leaving your blind in one location.  I had a couple of lengths of treated 6x6 sitting around from a building project.  I set them on the ground parallel and set my chair legs on them.  The weight of the wood made them fairly stable.  This allows for shootin clearance even for very close shots and with height of the blind, you can still use  virtually any bow you chose.

A big congrats!! Any turkey with a bow is a trophy.   Nice shooting!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.
