I posted pics of my new Chimera earlier in the week. I started working on tuning today. 58" 49#@28 I draw 28" three fingers under. I am getting my bare shafts to fly straight with full length GT 3555 with 225 gr field points. Does this sound about right? I didn't think I would need this much weight up front with a full length shaft. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The Centaurs ive  tuned prefered a bit stiffer set up then your indicating,  but all were very forgiving and easy to tune, im guessing you will find a wide range once you experiment some more etc...  I really like that about the Centaur, a wide range of shaft/tip set ups will fly great, or have for me.

I also was expecting something a little stiffer in arrow spine. This was just bare shafting into a target. The winds have been tough around here so once I am back from my trip next week I hope to paper tune.

I think that is about perfect, the 35/55 are not 33"s full length are they? I think 31"s can't remember exactly. You could shorten them a bit and go to 275. Shawn

I'm with Lamey. My Centaurs always shoot a stiffer arrow better. I shoot a .400 Axis out of mine. The last time I spoke with Jim Neaves,he was shooting a 400 Axis out of his personal low 50's bow as well. rat'

Yeah but how much is Jim shooting up front, maybe 325 grains or more, maybe less. All these posts saying what guys are shooting as BAK posted above means nothin without all the info. See what I mean. I have owned a couple Centaurs, one just two years ago. It was 51#s at my 28.5" draw(triple carbon)I shot a 29.5" .481 spine(heritage 150 maybe .487 spine) with 175 grains of point weight and I got what I would say is darn near perfect flight. Shawn

It is hard to argue with a bare shaft when you are on what you think it the light dynamic spine end of things and it is flying well.  The only thing is you need to back up and see what is going on at longer distance and different days to be sure you are on the right track.  

Far too many times I have started with a 400 spine shaft and got a false tune.    I find that I can false tune a stiff shaft and get it looking right particularly shooting 3under. You can get false tuned or false weak by a bad release, running a shaft of the riser or edge of the shelf material.

I have a hard time making a too weak shaft shoot right.  It is real hard to get a false tune or stiff with an over weak arrow unless you under draw by a bunch.   I have found it is best to set your nock high, put on a bottom nock, and load up a lighter spine shaft than you need.  Then you know you are truly weak with your arrow to start.  Then work in the stiffer direction.

I m shooting a full length 340 Axis with 250 grains up front. Shoot perfect paper and bare shaft tuning. 54# at 31"
