Carbon Advice?

Hey guys,
Im finially going to try some carbon arrows. Ive always shot woodies...but Im curious about carbon. Im trying to decide between GT 3555 and 5575's. I would like to run them with 100 gr steel adapters and use my 125 Zwickey Eskimos. I like my arrow length at 29.5"and my Super Shrew comes in at 47 lbs at my draw length. Anybody have any guess on which one would be best? Anybody have a similar setup? I really appreciate it.

Buy a spine test kit and experiment.

I shoot a 48# bow and use the 55/75 GT at 29.5 with 175 up front.

If you want that kind of weight up front the 5575's should work.

My Shrew is 57lbs at my 30" draw. Mine loves 55/75 with 200Gr up front. Hope this helps.

I would suggest a .400 carbon,with a 100 grain brass bushing,and .125-.175 head based on my Shrews performance.

Sorry but shoot the 35/55s, you would need to go up to at least 275 or more to get the the 55/75s to fly/ Just look at ISPs post and that should tell you, he is shooting 10#s more weight and has a 30" draw. You do not mention your exact draw but the 35/55's will get ya close with 225 up front if you draw around 28"s. I shoot 35/55s out of most of my bows and they are 51-54#s at 28.5"s and I cut mine to 29.5"s and shoot 175-200 grains up front. A lot of folks are over spined and feathers hide a lot. Shawn

I shoot pretty much the same arrow set up as Shawn with bows from 50#-60# pounds at 28" .

Thanks guys. Shawn....all my bows fall into this range. Between 47-48 lbs. I do shoot skinny strings. Does this make any difference in arrow spine?

I have to think 5575's will be over spines.

Not enough to make ya jump a whole spine group, I shoot most 10-12 strand D-97 strings. My Belcher/Border set-up has 8 strand and it makes no difference. Shawn

I'm in agreement with Shawn on this one! I think you will have a much easier time getting the 35/55's to tune correctly.

carbons can be a real pain to tune. I don't want to give any false info to you TNtrapper,and the 3555's will likely work better for you with a 47 pound bow. Just stating what worked for me. rat'

RR, try adding 100 grains and see the flight you get. I am not trying to start anything here, but I have seen tons of folks say look at the flight I get, it is perfect was shocked at.what I saw. Too each his own but 90% of the guys I know that do get perfect arrow flight with .400 spine arrows shoot 60 to 65# Bow with a draw from 28 to 29"s give or take and an arrow from 28.5 to 30"s and point weight from 225 to 325 depending on type of bow. Shawn I agree. 400 seemed way stiff. But it bullet holes buddy. I am curious about one thing that I must satisfy however. I want to strip one arrow down and bareshaft it. The feathers thing has me pondering. I shoot 3-under,I don't know if my high nock point may aid in flight characteristics any. I also would like to scale the Shrew and see if it may be 50-51 at 28 instead of the 49 it was built as. That is not much difference,but I ain't lying about the arrows flight. It's great. rat'

TN, I have the exact set up you are talking about and I shoot GT 3555's.
