Getting closer to new bow order, and am really liking the idea of brown glass limbs over bamboo.

Whats a good riser wood for this "huntin" bow?

Some ideas:

Rosewood
Chcechen
Shedua
Bubinga

Any others?

Thanks...

Tigerwood/Goncolo Alves. Would be a "retro" bear look.

I just finished a longbow for my dad that had brown glass over bamboo.  The riser is macassar ebony and padouk, I think they look nice together.

Brandon Stahl has one pictured in his Ultra Delight section that is really nice looking. I don't know what the wood in the riser is,but you could go over there and check it out.

Wenge/Myrtle or Wenge/Osage I am really liking Wenge cause the drak stuff is almost as dark as Ebony and you don't have to pay extra. Question, why brown glass instead of just staining the bamboo a nice brown color? Shawn

Clear glass is an up grade

I'm also thinking bocote and black glass

All I know it's gonna be a 58 inch one piece static tip from Wisconsin    :saywhat:    :saywhat:

I've had two bows with brown glass that I thought were very nice looking. One was a Holcomb '57 Kodiak with curly maple (or was it birds-eye?). The other was a 21st Century with a shedua riser. Actually, the shedua was very near the color of finely aged osage so I think that would be excellent as well. It would be a hard choice but if I was in your situation it would be one of those three.

Having the same trouble. I think I'm going with brown back & belly (I have a bow with a white belly but that flags while hunting), bamboo and maple lams, and Osage riser.

I have a Maddog Prarie Predator with brown glass that has a green Actionwood riser.

i'm not a big fan of any kind of Actionwood, but the brown/green combo looks pretty good!
