I was on another site posting calls i donated for St. Jude /Don Batton turkey hunt...and a poster thought it was interesting i would give to St Judes since they dont support Bowhunting. He said they said "No Thank You" to his bowclub donation?  I asked him for the letter...we will see....but
Question?  Does St. Jude formally thank Tradgang in any publication, etc. for it's donation each year?  thanks

I don't know that they do but IMHO it makes no difference.  I don't give to St. Judes to be recognized.........I give for the benefit of the kids.

Thanks for that link Randy!  I was beginning to have misgivings after hearing about that bow club's interaction.  

I don't care about the recognition either but I won't support any organization that takes a vocal stand against things I believe in.  I know that St. Judes is quite ok with archery due to contacts my staff and I have had with them.

Bowhunters need recognition in this day and age.It's awesome St Judes recognizes Tradgang on their wall at corporate. Our seasons particularly in the south are in jeopardy from State Game and Fish committees wanting to include rifles in our bow season to kill more deer.......etc. etc.

Wouldn't be awesome if every Tradgang member donated 1 item for this year auction?

That would be awesome, but just so everyone will know, you don't have to donate anything to the auction or buy anything on the auction. You can simply write a check and send it in just like you had won an auction item. It will go in the St. Judes coffer with the rest on them.

We receive cash donations each year.  Often those who are the winning bidder round up their payment to the nearest 5, 10, 20 or 100 dollars resulting in a cash donation.

I have to wonder how many people who would read that plaque would have any idea what "Trad Gang" is.  It says nothing about bowhunters.  Wish it  read "From the bowhunters of Trad Gang".

I agree David. Most might think "TradGang" is a geezer cycle club. Oh, well like Stone Knife reminded us, it doesn't matter who knows.

Definately - I count St. Jude as one of my annual contributions.  Just make sure that you make your check payable to St. Jude Childrens Hospital.

All cash donations of course are fully deductible.

So you use your canceled check as a receipt for tax purposes?  I never even thought about that...  

This works for charitable contributions up to $250.  For charitable contributions over $250, the tax code also requires that you have a letter from the recipient organization stating that they received your donation and stating whether you received anything of value in return.  When I checked several years ago, St. Judes was not able to issue the required letters, but that may have changed by now.

Both those who donate items to be bid on and those who pay in excess of the fair market value of the item should be entitled to a charitable contribution deduction, up to $250, anyway.
