Killdeer

I was just perusing a book about Native bows, arrows and quivers. It is by John Baldwin, and was copyrighted 1999. The writing is a little rough, and I take what he says with a pillar of salt, but the pictures were worth the somewhat hefty price I paid in '05.

I opened it up again after reading about hafting stone heads here. I had some different impressions from what I had read, so I went to look at the artifacts in the book. While doing so, I thought of you guys, and realized that I had seen no mention of the book in these pages. Thought I would share.

Bows, Arrows & Quivers of the American Frontier by John Baldwin, published by Early American Artistry-Trading Company
P.O. Box 299, West Olive, MI 49460

He has other books out as well, regarding pouches and bags, knives and hawks, etc.

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

Definately great reading, shell bought the Early knives and beaded sheaths of the American frontier by this author for ideas of some of the collected sheaths a few years ago and your right Killie, it was pricey    :eek:    at the time she bought it but well worth the pics.<><

Hey Killy-

I just looked at one for $94.99!  Wow!  Too rich for my blood!
What was big was not the antlers, but the chance. What was full was not the meatpole but the memory of the hunt.    --Aldo Leopold
