I have the itch to start shooting woods and need some help. I need at least 31.5"to the back of the point out of a Hybrid Longbow at 50 Pounds at my draw. I want to shoot at least 150 grain points. Not looking to shoot over 600 grains. I am shooting mostly 400 spine Easton Carbons right now. Any input is appreciated!. Thanks,

Try SureWoods Doug fir shafts, you are looking for high spine shafts at your draw length. Stika Spruce is another shaft that comes in higher spines and will make a lighter arrow overall. If you need cedar try finding them locally so you can hand pick them. You may not cedar over 32 in long. You may be short with your draw.

Shawn is right and likely more, with a 150 gn point and that shaft length it may be tough to stay under 600 gns. Doug Fir will be too heavy; and lightwight cedar to meet your spine requirements is a thing of the past. Spruce is about the lightest shaft material and makes an excellent arrow. A 400 gn shaft will make a finished 600 gn arrow with a 150 gn point.

If you're not totally stuck on the 150gr point then maybe 110 or 125gr points might help get the proper dynamic spine and stay near 600gr total weight. Tapered tails will help with FOC goals.

I just made up some 80-85# Doug. Firs for almost your exact setup.  They finished in the 680's with 145 gr points.  I'm going to try some 70-75 sitka spruce with 125 gr points to try and get some arrows that are a little lighter.  The firs will be great for the hunting that I do, but not so good for 3D.

Lance, keep me posted with what you come up with. I really like my Axis Carbons for hunting, I just wanted to play around with some wood arrows for 3D and fooling around,
