hello  I have a 52# recurve that I am shooting  goldtip 3555 out of with a 125gr field tip and full length arrow at 27" draw I am getting crazy arrow flight fishtailing as well as just looking like its doing circles in mid air..  what do i need to do   thanks  Robbie

peel the feathers off and shoot the arrow.  If it flies nock left it is too weak.(assuming you are right handed) If so cut 1/4" and shoot it again.  Keep doing that until it flies good.  If it flies nock right the arrow is too stiff.

Drop to a 100 grain point weight and probably shorten to 29" or so. Bareshaft tuning would be good here...keep shortening in 1/4" to 1/2" increments ON THE NOCK END  until you get proper arrow flight. Then fletch em' ......! Also check your nock point on the string to make sure it not too high ..(or low)....use your bowsquare for this. Make sure your in the 1/4" to 5/8" range above center ...depending on split finger release versus 3 under. The 3555 shaft ..or 500 spine should be correct for that 52# bow. You could try a lighter shaft as well just to rule it out....600 spine....good luck..

Robert~ I am shooting a 47# @28 Thunderhorn using 3555s and I have them cut at 29.5 inches and have the standard aluminum inserts with 225 grain points and am getting great flight.  I would echo what everyone else has said, play with point weight and check nock height, but those should work no problem with 52# recurve, may have to shorten that arrow though!  Plenty of room to test with 27" draw!!

More point weight and check nock fit on string.  Make sure it's not to tight.  Work on release.

Kris

Raise your brace 1/8" to 2/8" and raise your nock point...see what happens.  Work on your release, try a shallower hook on your string.
