Starting to get the finish on now. Using Minwax wipe on poly in satin finish. I've discovered that somewhere along the line the thumb rest got sanded mostly off. Oh well, can't unsand it. The wood grain is really nice on this bow.

I'm starting to rethink selling it. It's the same specs as my new takedown Shrew. 56" - 50# @ 28". I've never had two bows with the same specs before.

I have a couple 4 sale now, but I have a silvertip I will put up when I get it back from Dave, not many out there, 56" longbow, kudu tips and riser face, there hard to find, only between 5 to 6 built,

All the world's indeed a stage and we are merely players.
Performers and portrayers, each another's audience.

I would be keeping that one and moving another bow down the line. You don't find a bow like that every day!

beautifull bow
that black dot is interesting
because the griffin i have here has one in the sight window and appears to go all the way thru the riser

Good work. I looked hard at this one in classifieds. Hind sight 20/20.

There was a dot like that on a 59r that I had. John would not tell me why it was there.
If it's in your way, move it.

Hahaha. Trade secret I guess. Or something to make us ask questions.

I had a Griffin with a black dot on one side of the riser, too.

David Yukon

Like others said, why painting it in the first place!! Good surprise for you!!

Megan

The dot is probably a wood plug where an open knot was.

Hmmm. Possibly. I'll have to look a little closer when I get back home this evening. Maybe post a close up.

When I was young I painted all my Bear recuves to hide the shine.  Seemed to make sense back then.  Now I stay out of the sun:)

The dot doesn't seem to be in an area that a knot might have been. (See picture on page 1)

Last coat of poly applied last night.
Shelf leather installed this morning.
GET TO SHOOT IT THIS AFTERNOON.    :clapper:

( I hadn't shot it earlier since the string that came with it wouldn't untwist enough to lower the brace height enough.) but now I have some other strings that will work fine.

Hmmm. This could be my #2 bow. Anyone interested in a Griffin Gnat?

Well, guys (and gals), it's definitely a shooter. Quiet and fast. BUT .... I shot the Gnat again, too, and I've got to thin the herd down some. Looks like this one's going on the block. Look for it and others on the classifieds next week. Don't have time to get anything photoed and posted until the weekend's over.

Maybe I'll post some comparison pics of this one, too, when time allows.

Thanks for watching it's progress. This project was a lot of fun and I may look at doing others like it if the opportunity comes up.
