Toothpick

How many of you use that toothpick under the arrow rest,,and why?

I have used the toothpick under my sideplate to move it out for arrow tuning more than I have under the rug on my shelf. All my bows have radiused shelves though.

By using a toothpick under the rest on the shelf,you are trying to minimize the amount of contact your arrow is making with the shelf of the bow.I sometimes use one behind my sideplate for arrow tuning.

I have one bow I did this to. It seems to work just fine with it but I can't tell a huge difference, but wanted less drag and better clearance as the arrow passes. It's on an older Super Grizzly with a flat shelf. My other Grayling Super Grizzly has a raduised shelf I filed onto it. It's very good without the toothpick.

I use a piece of 5/16th wood shaft cut in half to raise the arrow up a bit.

Depends on the rest. If it's crowned, no need for anything under the rest. If it's flat, something under the rest, toothpick, leather, etc., gives a little better arrow clearance.

Sometimes I do and sometimes a sliver of a wood shaft works well.
