What is the verdict on the current design limbs for the Bear Take down vs aftermarket limbs?

I don't mind paying a bit more but don't like the longish wait times.

I have 2 sets of the Bear limbs and find it hard to believe anyone could make them that much better. But then I don't own the others and can't compare......stabow

I have shot several sets of after market limbs and I would say most perform better than the Bears. RER and Rose Oaks outperform them by a wide margin. I have not shot a new set of the Bear limbs but some from a few years ago and again I would buy aftermarket. Shawn

I have shot them all. The new red tips made in gainsville  are as good of limbs as you will ever find.

I have two pair of Rose Oak # 3's, and they are incredibly smooth and fast. The workmanship is flawless. I only own an older set of Bear limbs, and they don't even come close to the Rose Oaks, but, I've not owned or shot a new set.

The limbs being made today at Bear Archery are terrific.
If buying aftermarket, I cannot say enough about Rose Oak limbs.
Brandon is an amazing bowyer and as mentioned, flawless craftsmanship.

I think border makes. Bear limbs as well and have a good reputation of making high performnce limbs

When designing my recurve limbs, I chronographed several bows including a new bear Kodiak Just to get an idea what I should be shooting for.

I'm sure the aftermarket limbs are well made, but I would put money on the fact that they wouldn't be any faster than the Bears.
In my tests, the Bear smoked every other bow tested... chronographed while using a shooting machine.

Bill, I believe the RER limbs will make a 62" bow with a B riser.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I may just try a set of the new Bear limbs and then, if I really want to spend even more money on this hobby, ;0)...

BTW, I have read some stuff about the bear limb design not being so friendly to the long draw archer. Any validiity to that?
For example, I'd really like to make my B riser a 62" bow, rather than a 64 if I ever bought aftermarket limbs.
There are some opinions that drawing over 29/30" you want to stay with the 64 inch bow configuration, based on limb stack (not finger pinch which I don't care much about).

I'm shooting a set of #1s on a B riser and drawing 29+ without stack or pinch. I also have a set of #3s  and to me they feel really close to the same. The Bear limbs really perform well.
