Is Mich the only state where you have to apply for  a Turkey tag??

Anyway, results are in, check the DNR site.

I got 1st season for the first time. April 22-28. 8 weeks to go, I'm sure something will come up to spoil my plans.

I drew the same season for a limited tag area.  Rumor has it another TG member drew the same tag as me.

Best part of the whole thing, is that with the way Michigan has recently done their youth hunting opportunities,  both my boys are eligible for a spring turkey tag to go along with mine.

I have hunted them successfully in the fall during years past, but come spring time I was always on the lakes and rivers chasin walleye.  The boat is now sold and it's time to see what all the Spring Hoopla is all about.  I'm even gonna try making my own box call to make it a little more special.  I'll even have each one of my boys making their own call too.  (I have a feeling my wife is going to be be getting her fill of turkey talk).

We used to have a lottery for turkey in Maine, but the population has exploded in the past 8-10 years. Turkey permits over the counter now.
Take care,

Both kids and I drew tags spanning the 3 separate seasons. Can't wait!!
Just one more step please!

I always just buy an over the counter leftover tag.   I think last year there were like 45,000.   It amazes me we are only allowed to shoot one turkey.   I know not all areas are the same but there are so many turkeys around .  There is a flock of about 300 that hang out around the area I hunt.  It's amazing to see.

Same here, I dont get into all that drawing stuff. Just go down and buy one over the counter for the entire lower. Why be tied down to a certain area?
I'm not a "deer" hunter, I'm a bow hunter that occasionally shoots a deer.

Mike, how does that work? My 14 year old son is my partner in K but we have one tag and the season is a week. I did see anything about a youth season.

It is for youths 9 (or 10) and under with a mentored license.   They get combo deer, spring and fall turkey, all species fish, fur bearers an small game license for $7.50.
