Anyone have problems getting these to fly? I have used Stu's dynamic calc to try and figure out combinations (have a set of 2219's 31"bop with 175gr points that fly perfect) but can not for the life of me get the FMJ's to fly. I have set them up weaker and stiffer than the 2219's and they still will not fly correctly.  Just looking to see if anyone else has had problems with these shafts.

LittleBen

The dangerous game shafts are quite a bit stiffer than teh 2219s I believe. IIRC dangerous game is in .300 and .250 spine and i looked nad 2219s are like .335.

You probably know this, but I have no idea why they wont fly.

how much tip weight are you using on them and what length?

Sharpeye

I'm shooting them full length 32.75 bop and i have had anywhere from 75 to 300 grains up front in addition to the 75gr brass hit inserts. on stus calc the dynamic spine has been right around my 2219's and my wood shafts but still no luck. HH big 5 pulls 70 at my 30" draw (measured)

Sharpeye:  Have you tried the regular 300's? If I remember when I was shooting heavier weight the 2219'a and 300's were very similar in shooting characteristics. Slight variations in point weight was all that was needed.
The best things in life....aren't things!

Heres a crazy thought, how is the nock fit? Very tight nock fit can make clean shooting impossible.

I would have guessed off the top of my head that the .300 shafts would be fairly close with 75grain inserts and 75 grain heads at that length. Very odd. Do you have a spine tester? not that I've ever heard of carbons being off in spine.

With the big 5 you need to bend the arrow around the riser unlike most cut past center longbows these days.  That being said you are going to have to hang some serious weight on a carbon to get that much paradox.

They react different then aluminum or wood.

Dangerous Game FMJ's are .300 deflection. I imagine you will need to be shooting a bow of about 80# before it even comes close to being correct stiffness. What weight bow are you shooting?

I have some FMJ Dangerous Game 300 arrows cut 30" to back of head with that shoot perfectly with a 145 gr. point out of my Black Widow MA II.  It is 61# at 28" and I draw 27". 2219 shafts with 175 grain points cut to 29" to back of point also shoot perfectly.  The 300's are stiffer than 2219's but a smaller diameter obvously.

I shoot the HH 30" @ 70lbs I sanded the nocks to a very loose fit on the string.  I went out this morning and actually had the best luck so far. 175gr points with the 75 gr insert makes for 250 and at 20 yards they didn't do bad.  it's finally up to the low 30s now and maybe im just more relaxed and shooting better myself.
