There is smooth and then there is smooth. Until you shoot a good static curve you haven't experienced smooth. The new bow Kirk built doesn't even pull the string off of the limb until it hits 25 inches. I would bet you could draw that bow out to 34 or 35 with no stack. The little bow on the end of the line was a present I gave to kirk several years ago. He has a pic of him drawing it 33 inches with no stack and its only a 56 in bow. Don't give me any orders on it though. I don't build it anymore. Everybody said they wanted one pieces. Then when I built the forms and made the bows no one bought them. I gave most of them away. But then the guys that got them got a real good deal.

Anyway , whoever you buy it from my reccomendation is a good static tip bow.
If Kirk posts a pic of a static at full draw you can check out the string angle and see why. a 58 in bow pulls like a 64, no pinch at all. The new designs with no tip wedges are just super fast too and much quieter than a working recurve.

Kirk makes a new one that is a barn burner, I won't post the tests but he might. I make them in several models, my new one is the black phenolic bow with the funny looking riser that is on his rack. Storm Eagle, RER makes them , Jack Kemph, Stalker I believe. Perhaps Bob Morrison.I'm sure there are a few more that are great bowyers and Trad Gang sponsers.
Godbless you all, Steve

The new limb design Dick Robertson is using in his Fatal Styk and Tribal Styk recurves is awesome...I have 29.5inch draw and never noticed a single bit of stack at my draw length from the 60" bow.

Great bow, respected long time bowyer, and it was impressive how smooth the 60" Fatal Styk was to draw for me.
x2...only 30 inches
I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

I have a 60 inch Hoots longbow that I draw 30 inches that does not stack at all. I love the handle too! A very nice hybred longbow and a very nice guy to deal with. Give them a look see!

I have a Robertson Primal Styk 66" bow and it is really nice. This is the longest bow I have ever owned. While it is nice I like shorter bows. Oh also regarding the stack issue. The stack itself is not a horrible thing. But I find for me I also get a bit of finger pinch with those bows that stack.

When the string reaches or gets close to 90 degree angle to the bow at the notches then you get stack because you are not leveraging but pulling directly against the limbs. Its terribly hard on the bow and it also is why you feel pinch.

Kirk,

I'm looking at buying a static tip recurve.  Are any of the Eagle Wings available for sale?

bobc@bluestoneblock.com

Thanks!

None of those eagle wing bows on my rack there are for sale, but I'll bet brutha Steve could fix you up with a beauty...

Here's a couple at full draw. first one here is the new  "Sasquatch SS"  60"

and the second one here is Steve's
"Storm Eagle"  58"

Both of these bows are shooting over 200 fps at
9 gpp. at a 28" draw.
