Anyone out there use a pack basket vs a standard backpack for your day hunts. Pictures please of your set up, what you take and how you pack it up. I'm thinking I might like the simplicity of just one container / compartment vs all the compartments, zippers, straps, etc of my regular packs.

Can be done.....I wouldn't use one to hunt with if I was moving a lot. If in one spot all day great way to go. Not bad for packing out meat either, bone the critter and bring it out all in one trip.

Have not thought about one in years.  Agree it might be too bulky for stalking

Sorry, but does not sound practical to me for hunting...but old dogs can learn new tricks if the reward is good enough.

TRAP

I have several pack baskets that I primarily use for beaver and otter trapping, but I also use them to carry bulky clothing in to treestands during really cold weather.

I can stuff a pair of KOM bibs and a Bowman jacket in it and throw my fanny pack with all my other stuff in on top.

They come in a lot of different shapes and sizes.

You might want to check out  www.duluthpack.com.   They are a company that has made canoe and camping packs for a long time.  They use a 15-ounce canvas with cotton webbing shoulder straps.  They also make it in waxed canvas.  Their new "Wanderer" pack is a medium-sized daypack measuring 16x15x6 inches, with 1,845-cubic-inch capacity, and comes in camo.

It looks interesting to me, and the company has a stellar reputation.

LL Bean also has a canvas packbasket.  I have one that is very well made and holds all I need.

I forget who, but someone used to sell waterproof liner for Pack baskets. Some had pockets for small stuff. I know a lot of folks used them for ice fishing. Would be good for a day hunt to keep stuff separated and in order.
